Northumberland Youth Unlimited Announces Seminar For Parents

In Community

Northumberland Youth Unlimited is pleased to announce that they are holding a free seminar for parents, youth workers and teachers on Monday, June 4, 2018. Smart Parenting for a Smartphone Generation will be held at the Concert Hall at Victoria Hall (55 King St. W. Cobourg) at 7:00pm. They are the first generation for whom internet access is constantly available wherever they are and this has serious consequences. This seminar will look at some of these consequences such as declining mental health, growing up more slowly, struggles with real relationships, and smartphone addictions. Practical helps on how we can respond as parents, youth workers, and teachers will also be provided.
Northumberland Youth Unlimited is delighted to have Paul Robertson as their Guest Speaker. Robertson is the Youth Culture Specialist for Toronto Youth Unlimited. He has over 40 years of working with youth and parents including raising four grown sons of his own. Robertson has spoken extensively across Canada and throughout the USA. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. After teaching high school for five years, he has been with Youth Unlimited for 38 years.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about youth and parenting related resources from the following event partners:  Cobourg Police Service, UCB Radio 90.7FM, Rebound Child & Youth Services, Employment Assistance Resource Network (Community Living), Therapeutic Family Care Program (Highland Shores Children’s Aid), Northumberland County Community and Social Services and Northumberland Youth Unlimited.
Seats are limited! Get more info and RSVP before May 28 at www.nyfc.org/smart, info@nyfc.org or 905-373-4707.
Northumberland Youth Unlimited sees the hope and potential in every young person, and together, we are making a difference!
