Cobourg Police – Man Arrested for Thefts

The Cobourg Police have arrested a man for multiple thefts from vehicles after responding to a theft in progress.
On Saturday the 28th of April, 2018, at approximately 8:30 am, police responded to an apartment complex parking lot for a report of a man entering vehicles. Upon arrival on scene, police located the man attempting to hide from police and upon approach, the man engaged police in a foot pursuit. The man was subsequently located hiding under a trailer in a private driveway and was arrested without further incident.
As a result of the police investigation, 26 year old Andrew DRYSDALE of Baltimore was charged with eight counts of theft, 2 counts of trespass at night, one count of possess property obtained by crime, and one count of breach of probation under the Criminal Code and held in custody pending a Bail Hearing.
Cobourg Police are reminding the public to ensure they always lock their vehicle doors, and absolutely refrain from leaving valuables inside. Wallets, purses, keys and electronics are easy targets, as they can contain personal information or access to homes which may lead to further victimization.
While our members are proactively making patrols throughout the Town, we still need our residents to be the eyes of your neighborhood. If you observe a suspicious person or circumstances you believe to be related to criminal activity, please call the police immediately.
