In Community

May programming is ready to go at the Port Hope Northumberland Community Health Centre.
A variety of diabetes workshops is always available at the centre (99 Toronto Rd., Port Hope) and sometimes off-premises in satellite locations. In May, check out the May 2 Heart Healthy workshop at 5 p.m. and their Just The Basics program May 16 at 5 p.m. A Just The Basics program is also offered May 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre at 750 D’Arcy St.

Something’s always cooking at the Port Hope centre, and a specialized diabetes-cooking workshop May 18 at 9:30 a.m. has the theme Dining In Season.
A new series of Men’s Cooking Club sessions begins May 16 at 10 a.m. (a $5 food cost per class applies), and you can enjoy fellowship along with the food May 25 at the Collective Kitchen workshop at 1:30 p.m. (an $8 food cost applies). Two other cooking workshops are planned May 9 – Come Cook With Us at 9:30 a.m. and Kitchen Is Open at noon (a $5 food cost applies).

Or if you’re more an eater than a cooker, don’t forget the Souper Douper Lunch served May 17, where they’re dishing it out from noon until the pot is empty.

Support-group meetings in May include the Stroke Survivor and Acquired Brain Injury Support Group May 4 at 10:30 a.m. and the Hoarding Support Group May 9 at 5:30 p.m.

Weekly programs continue:
On Mondays (except for May 21), the Women’s Wellness time at 1:30 p.m offers fun and fitness for women, along with activities and speakers – a $2 fee applies.
On Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:15 p.m., drop in and learn important information at the Falls Prevention workshop.
On Tuesdays, young people aged 12 to 18 are invited to the 3 p,m. Youth Drop-In program, held off-premises at the Jack Burger Sports Complex on Highland Drive.
