Three Students Make A Difference At C.R. Gummow In Cobourg

In Community

Three grade six students at C.R. Gummow School in Cobourg ran a bake sale on Thursday after they were inspired by member of the We Foundation.
Annabel Poort, Bridgette Byrne and Jillian Thomas attended a assembly in the Fall at Cobourg Collegiate Institute and listened to Ashley Rose Murphy from the We Foundation along with various high school clubs who are dedicated to making a positive change in their school and community.
“They were incredibly passionate about raising money for Sick Kids Hospital, and they showed amazing dedication and responsibility,” said their teacher Megan MacDonald.
“They stayed inside for countless recesses to prepare school announcements, make posters, write letters to go home with students and do many other important jobs.”
The three students asked other students in grades five and six to join in and bake treats and everyone really pulled through, baking over 1000 treats, said MacDonald.
Foodland also generously donated goodies for the bake sale.
The bake sale was a huge success, raising over $1300 for Sick Kids Hospital.
