Facility-Wide Influenza A Outbreak declared OVER for Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH)”

In Community, Local, News

CMH, in consultation with HKPR Public Health, has declared the termination of the facility-wide influenza A (Respiratory) outbreak.
Effective immediately the Emergency Department will be OPEN as per normal service levels.
Patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms should continue to seek attention from their physician’s office or clinic. The symptoms for this illness include fever, sore throat, cough, body aches, headache, chest and/or nasal congestion.
CMH would like to thank everyone for their patience, cooperation and diligence in helping us return to normal operation. Varouj Eskedjian, CEO of Campbellford Memorial Hospital, expressed his appreciation to all CMH staff for their diligence and commitment to providing quality patient care to patients throughout the outbreak. He also thanked external health system partners, including the HKPR Public Health Unit, Northumberland Hills Hospital and Peterborough Regional Health Centre, the EMS services in Peterborough County, Northumberland County and Hastings/Quinte, as well as the Central East Local Health Integration Network and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Emergency Measures group for their support throughout the duration of the outbreak.
The expectation remains that all staff and visitors be diligent in practicing infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and cough etiquette, when visiting the hospital at any time.
Frequent hand washing, particularly before and after patient contact, is mandatory and vital to reducing healthcare associated infections.
