Domestic Assault with a weapon Arrest:

A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges including domestic assault and assault with a weapon following an investigation.

In early March 2018 police were contacted regarding the accused breaching his conditions to not contact the female victim. It was also reported that in 2016 the accused assaulted the victim and in 2017 assaulted her with a weapon (struck her with a door).

As a result of the investigation on March 7, 2018 the accused was arrested at a Peterborough residence and charged with domestic assault, assault with a weapon and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 29, 2018.

 

Impaired Arrest:

A call from a concerned citizen has led to the arrest of a Peterborough man for charges including impaired driving.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on March 7, 2018 police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver in a Lansdowne Street West parking lot. Officers attended the parking lot and located the suspect vehicle parked in the lot. Witnesses indicated the male driver had gone into the store. Officers entered the store and located the suspect. Through the investigation it was determined that the male was impaired by a drug.

The male was placed under arrest for impaired driving and he subsequently refused to provide a sample.

As a result of the investigation Michael Joseph Giroux, 41, of Hunter Street East, was arrested and charged with impaired driving, failing or refusing to provide a sample and fail to comply with a probation order. The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive while under suspension.The accused appeared in court on March 8, 2018.

 

Theft Investigation:

Sometime between February 21, 2018 and February 28, 2018 unknown person(s) stole a red inverted Honda generator serial #EZGF-1094626 from a shed located behind a King Street building.
