Sexual Assault Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 14-year-old Selwyn Township teen for sexually assaulting an adult woman on the rotary trail just north of Armour Road.The incident took place on February 28, 2018 at approximately 3:10 p.m. Through the investigation the youth was identified and located at his residence shortly after the incident. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result.

As a result of the investigation the 14-year-old male was arrested and charged with sexual assault, criminal harassment and breach of probation.

The youth appeared in court on March 1, 2018. There is no community safety concern.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.

 

Assault Arrest:

A 40-year-old Peterborough woman has been charged with assault following an incident at a Water Street parking lot.

On February 24, 2018 at approximately 2:12 p.m. the victim, an adult female, parked her motor vehicle in a Water Street parking lot. As she exited her vehicle she was approached by an unknown woman pedestrian who began yelling at her criticizing her driving. The unknown woman then assaulted the victim. The incident was reported to police and officers attended.

A short time later the female suspect was located outside a Murray Street address.

As a result of the investigation Tanya Shaw, 40, of Murray Street, was arrested and charged with assault.The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 22, 2018.
