Additional Charges:

A 27-year-old Peterborough man is facing several additional charges following an investigation into break-ins at restaurants and cafes on Hunter Street West.

 

On February 9, 2018 the accused was arrested and charged with attempt break and enter X3, possession of break-in instruments and breach of probation X3 in relation to attempted break-ins in the area of Hunter Street West.

 

Through further investigation it was revealed that the accused is connected to five break-ins that took place between January 26, 2018 and February 9, 2018 at restaurants and cafes along Hunter West.

 

As a result of the investigation Thomas Mark Perdue, 27, of Brock Street, is additionally charged with the following:

 

  • Break and enter X5
  • Fail to comply with a probation order X5

 

The accused remains in custody and will appear again in court today (Feb. 28) where the additional charges will be addressed.

 

Arson Arrest:

A 24-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with arson following an investigation.

 

On February 23, 2018 at approximately 11:20 p.m. police were dispatched to a King Street residence to assist the Peterborough Fire Department with a possible structure fire. Through the investigation it was determined that the fire was suspicious.

 

Through further investigation a male suspect was identified. As a result of the investigation on February 26, 2018 the accused attended the police station where he was placed under arrest.

 

Liam Edward Whiteside, 24, of King Street, is charged with arson – disregard for human life and fail to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on February 27, 2018.

Domestic Assault Arrest:

The Peterborough Police Service has arrested and charged a 21-year-old man with two counts of domestic assault following an investigation.

 

The accused and the female victim were in a domestic relationship that recently came to an end.

 

On February 23, 2018 while at a Peterborough building and again on February 25, 2018 while at a Peterborough residence the accused approached the victim and she was assaulted. The incidents were reported to police on February 27, 2018.

 

As a result of the investigation on February 27, 2018 officers attended a Peterborough residence where the accused was arrested and charged with assault X2.

 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 22, 2018.

 

In order to protect the identity of the victim in this domestic incident the name of the accused will not be released.
