UPDATED TO INCLUDE LIVE VIDEO

An excavator worked through the night trying to break up an ice jam along the Ganaraska River in Port Hope. Crews were monitoring the jam and when it rose approximately 5 feet, it was time to call in the excavator to break up the ice and hopefully get the river flowing once again. Minor flooding happened along Queen Street south of Robertson Street, but no reports of any significant damage. Port Hope was heavily damaged in 1980 when a flood ripped through the downtown causing millions of dollars in damage.
