Multi vehicle collision on 401 WB near Shannonville closes highway

(NAPANEE, ON) On February 11th, 2018 at 7:55 p.m. officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to multi vehicle collision on Highway 401 Westbound east of Shannonville in Tyendinaga Twp.

The collision involved multiple vehicles. Investigation determined that as a result of a single motor vehicle occurring, three tractor trailers then jackknifed and collided. A single motor vehicle left the highway due to the tractor trailer collision.

The Highway was completely blocked and one trailer split open. The tractor tailers were not carring any Hazardous goods. No injuries were sustained. The EDR (Emergency Detour Route) was in effect for several hours. The highway reopened at 2:55 a.m.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are currently on scene.
