Experience Cobourg Launches Virtual Sandcastle Festival World Tour

In Community, Local, Upcoming Events

Participants can explore Sandcastle Festivals from across the globe without leaving town.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the Community Services Division is pleased to announce the launch of a Virtual Sandcastle Festival World Tour and encourages citizens and visitors to participate for a chance to win great prizes.

Working with Cobourg’s Downtown Business Area Initiative (DBIA) along with local business and community partners, Experience Cobourg has created a Virtual Sandcastle World Tour that will see participants visiting 18 different locations with a sign posted at each throughout Cobourg. Each sign includes helpful clues and information about a different sandcastle festival in Canada or around the world.

“We want everyone to enjoy discovering other famous Sandcastle Festivals while exploring our town safely during the pandemic,” said Councillor Adam Bureau, Coordinator of Arts, Culture and Tourism. “This is an excellent opportunity to experience Cobourg by visiting some of our beautiful parks, businesses and landmarks all while having a little bit of fun and winning some great prizes!”

How to Play

· Download the Virtual Sandcastle Map found here: www.experiencecobourg.ca.

· Locate all 18 signs and using clues posted, name all 18 Sandcastle Festivals.

· Submit your contest entry form found here: www.experiencecobourg.ca

How to Enter and Win Great Prizes

Once participants have guessed all 18 clues complete submissions can be emailed to Jackie Chapman-Davis, Community Events Coordinator at jchapmandavis@cobourg.ca.
All complete submissions will be entered into a draw with 10 winners being announced on August 24, 2020. In support of local businesses each winner will receive a $50 dollar gift card to a local business of their choosing.
