Northumberland OPP – Fail to Remain

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On June 29, 2018 just after 9:30 p.m. the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a white pickup truck involved in a fail to remain collision on Highway 401 east of Cobourg, ON in Hamilton Township.

Witnesses reported observing a white GMC pickup truck rear end another motor vehicle, then take off in an erratic manner westbound on Highway 401without any attempt to stop. The suspect vehicle was stopped by an officer a few minutes later on Brook Road North in Cobourg, ON. Upon speaking to the driver it was determined that he was under the influence of alcohol which led to his arrest.

As a result of the investigation 41 year old Robert Stahurski of Southgate Township, ON was charged with the following offences:

· Care or Control Over 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood.
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
· Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
· Dangerous Operations of a Motor Vehicle

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on September 19, 2018.
