Port Hope entrepreneur Signe Langford urges everyone to shop local for the holidays, with the fifth annual Holiday Show and Sale returning to help make it an easy, enjoyable goal,
This fifth annual outing for the event runs Nov. 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port Hope Lions’ Club at 29 Thomas St.

Langford describes it as “an exciting group of artisans, artists, cooks and farmers – both local and from a little farther afield.” Offerings include original art, crafts, delicious food and tasty treats.

“With close to 50 talented vendors over this two-day event, the Port Hope Makers’ Market is always a good time, with great food, lovely arts and crafts, one-of-a-kind art pieces for the collector, and everything in between,” she said.

The event also boasts a wide range of price points, she added, from triple-digit unique art pieces for the collector to $3 stocking stuffers to whittle your Christmas shopping list.

Look for all your favourite local creators – as well as some new vendors – offering one-of-a-kind housewares, beauty products, decor jewelry, preserves and fresh baked goods.

Langford said they are delighted to welcome back Papa Ghanoush and Mamma Hummus (by popular demand) from Prince Edward County, bringing the mouth-watering Syrian food that was such a hit last year.

Every Port Hope Makers’ Market donates space to a charity and, this year, three have been invited to attend and spotlight the work they do – Northumberland Habitat For Humanity, K9 Crusaders Dog Rescue and The Rose Quest, a not-for-profit charity founded by a young Port Hope woman to help the homeless.

While most of the show takes place indoors, Langford said, a few vendors will be set up outside (weather permitting). Also, if the weather co-operates, there will be outside dining.
Parking and admission are free, and everyone is welcome.
