16th Annual Cornerstone’s Walk A Mile Takes Place in Cobourg

The 16th annual “Cornerstone’s Walk A Mile!” took place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in downtown Cobourg.

It’s expected this years total will bring donations over the years topping the $500,000.

Nancy Johnston who is Executive Director of Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre said, “we cannot express how much we appreciate our community and the individuals who join us to help towards ending gender based violence.”

In 2022, Cornerstone Family Violence and Prevention Centre provided help to over 1,800 women, children and youth for their programs.

“Walk A Mile plays a critical role in funding our programs and services.”

“We are so thankful to see all of you here today to spread awareness about an important issue and help us continue our work.”

The Cobourg Lions Club provided a breakfast for the event with McDonalds providing coffee.

A First Responders Obstacle Course pitted Cobourg Fire Department against the Cobourg Police Department, including Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf and Port Hope Police Chief Tim Farquharson.

Leading the procession of walkers were members of the Cobourg Legion Pipes Band.
