Cobourg Police – Three People Facing Criminal Charges (Names Released)

Three people are facing drug charges after police conducted a vehicle stop in the Town of Cobourg.

On Friday, October 6, 2023, at 4:25 a.m., police initiated a traffic stop on William Street in the Town of Cobourg.

As a result of the police investigation, all occupants were arrested. Drugs, unmarked tobacco, and a prohibited knife were seized.

As a result, 43-year-old Ian JACOBS and 36-year-old Elizabeth KING of Port Hope, along with 35-year-old Caitlin NORMOYLE of Cobourg, were jointly charged with the following:

1) Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2) Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

3) Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Unknown Pills contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

4) Possession of unmarked cigarettes contrary to section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act

5) Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code JACOBS was additionally charged with:

1) Drive while under suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act KING was additionally charged with:

1) Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Fentanyl contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

2) Possession of a Prohibited Device contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code

All parties were released on Undertakings with a court date of November 18, 2023.
