Cobourg Police – Assault and Mischief Arrest (Name Released)

A 38-year-old Port Hope man is facing charges of mischief and assault after police responded to two calls Friday morning.

On Friday, September 22, 2023, at approximately 7:15 a.m., police responded to a damage to property call at
a residence in the north end (Battell Crescent) of Cobourg.

The caller reported that an individual was recorded on CCTV camera slashing the tires on their truck sometime overnight. Police identified the suspect and opened an investigation.

At 11:15 a.m., police responded to an assault in progress call. When police arrived on scene, the suspect had left the area. Through investigation, police identified the suspect as the same person from the earlier property damage call.

At 12:03 p.m., on Friday, September 22, 2023, police located and arrested Travis Watts (38) of Port Hope, who was charged with mischief and assault.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing
