Two Dogs Rescued on Highway 401 After Camper Flips East of Colborne

Two people were taken to hospital and two dogs were rescued after a pickup and camper flipped on Highway 401 east of Colborne on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. emergency services including Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department, Northumberland OPP and Northumberland County Paramedics were dispatched to a transport rollover in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 just west of the Colborne exit.

When crews arrived on scene, the collision was in Cramahe Township area and Cramahe Township Fire Department was also dispatched.

The collision didn’t involved a transport, but a pickup hauling a large camper/trailer had flipped onto it’s side blocking on lane of the highway.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 were shut down for approximately one hour.

Two individuals were taken to hospital with what were described as minor injuries.

Two dogs that were in the camper were rescued by firefighters and placed in one of their vehicles.

Both dogs were taken by one of the firefighters overnight and were given to the Humane Society until they could be returned to the owners.
