On June 21, 2023, the Cobourg Northshore Probus Club celebrated their 20-year anniversary at the Lions Community Centre in Cobourg.
Seventy-eight current and past members attended to remember the many accomplishments and past entertainment events, and to acknowledge the years of service by members.

Twenty-one charter members have been attending continuously since the first year (2003), and the theme for this milestone gathering was Friendship-Learning-Activities.

Probus is a local, national and international association of retired people who come together in non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit autonomous clubs which provide regular opportunities for members to meet others in similar circumstances, to make new friends, and to maintain and expand their interests. The Cobourg Northshore meets twice-monthly most of the year.

Past Probus Canada President Brenda Andrews brought congratulations and good wishes from the national office. Director of Ontario District 1 Craig Greenwood congratulated the club and presented a plaque from Probus Canada to commemorate the 20-year milestone. Former President of Cobourg Northshore club Bruce Steel gave an entertaining recap of the club’s first 20 years.

After a very enjoyable luncheon, there was entertainment by the Bay City Quartet from Brighton, playing music and singing songs familiar to all – and inspiring many to do a little dancing as they were wont to do a few years ago.
