In Local

One of the washrooms at the bus terminal in Cobourg will be closed until repairs can be made after it was damaged recently.

On Friday, December 2, 2022, police were made aware of damage that was done to the washroom on Albert Street in Cobourg.

The bus terminal is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekly.

Damage was observed at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday that one of the toilets was destroyed, a door was damaged and there was graffiti on one of the walls.

Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf said on Saturday that it has been twice in three weekends there has been damage to the facility.

The previous time there was damage to a sharps (needle) container along with excrement and feces on the floor.

“It’s disheartening again and the town staff are left to clean up the disrespect left by others,” said VandeGraaf.

Police will be examining CCTV (closed circuit television) that is in the terminal to help with their investigation.
