Angler Charged with Possession of Atlantic Salmon in Port Hope

In Local, Police Blotter

One angler was charged on Friday, September 16, 2022 with possession of an Atlantic salmon along the Ganaraska River in Port Hope.

At approximately 3 p.m. a angler was noticed carrying an Atlantic salmon along the Ganaraska River, just north of Walton Street.   If an angler catches an Atlantic salmon they are to release it immediately if it is caught in rivers.

The angler was carrying the Atlantic salmon, which was alive, but died shortly after.

The video shows ways of telling the difference between Atlantic salmon.  There are also numerous signs along the Ganaraska River to help anglers tell the difference.
