Peterborough County OPP – Fatal Collision Closes Northbound Lanes of Highway 115

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed Highway 115 near Airport Road due to a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. this afternoon.

A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) was stopped in the northbound lanes due to traffic when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The pickup truck was then rear-ended by a second CMV. The lone occupant of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at scene.

The deceased will not be identified until next of kin notifications are completed.

The northbound lanes of Highway 115 between Airport Road and County Road 28 was closed for several hours while members trained in collision reconstruction measure and documented the scene. Detours were in place.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 705-742-0401 or 1-888-310-1122.
