Build From The Heart Fundraiser in Support of Port Hope Family That Lost Everything In Fire

In Community, Local

A Build From The Heart Fundraiser is taking place on September 10, 2022 to help a family that lost everything in a devastating fire.

The Sanders family lost almost everything in a devastating fire in April in Port Hope.

It was their family home and adding to the heartache, they didn’t have insurance on the $400,000 loss.

Living at the home were Megan Sanders, her 16-year-old son, her sister and her uncle.

The sisters inherited the home in 2003 and their mother passed away in 1998 due to cancer. Their father passed away in 2003 due to heart issues.

Megan was 21, her sister was 17-years-old.

‘I feel we have made a lot of headway at the house – but we still have a long way to go,” said Megan.

They are all extremely grateful to be alive, but are trying to work on repairs to the family home.

There is a $10 entry fee, with live music by Luke Force. A fun night packed with raffles, a silent auction and many prizes to be won.

The event takes place on September 10, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge located at 54 Toronto Road in Port Hope.
