No Injuries Following House Fire in Cobourg

Damage is estimated at $50,000 following a early morning house fire in Cobourg on Monday, August 15, 2022.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. members of the Cobourg Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Cornell Crescent.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the homeowner was using a garden hose to try and douse the flames at the side of the house.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension in the roof area of the home.

It appears the fire started on the outside of the home and spread up the outside walls.

The homeowner said the crackling sound of the fire alerted him and when he went into the kitchen it was full of smoke.

Firefighters are investigating the cause but it doesn’t appear suspicious.
