OPP Lay Attempted Murder Charges in Omemee

Additional Charges Laid

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid additional charges and upgraded two previous Aggravated Assault charges in relation to an ongoing attempted murder investigation in Omemee.

On July 2, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers received a disturbance call at an apartment building in Omemee. Four people were located injured and transported to hospital. One person was arrested.

The accused, who will not be named in order to protect the identify of the victims, now stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Attempt Murder, section 239(1)(b) – three counts
  • Assault with Weapon, section 267(a) – two counts
  • Fail to Comply Probation, section 733.1(1)
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking, section 145(4)(a)

The accused remains in custody with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
