Cobourg Police – Cobourg Woman Charged With Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Fail to Comply (No Name Released)

A Cobourg resident has been charged after police responded to a report of theft from a store in the north end of Cobourg.

On Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., police attended a business in the north end of Cobourg in response to a report of theft. Staff advised police that an individual had left the store with unpaid merchandise.

Police reviewed video surveillance footage and identified the individual.

On Monday, July 11, 2022, at 3:50 p.m., police arrested a 29-year-old Cobourg woman and charged her with the following offences:

1. Theft under $5,000 contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

2. Possession of stolen property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Fail to comply with probation order contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

4. Fail to comply with Undertaking contrary to Section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The woman was held for a bail hearing and released with a future court date on July 20, 2022.
