(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 205 incidents this past week, here are some examples:

June 25

  • A Trent Hills resident reported to police that his 1979 Brown Ford F150 super cab pickup truck had been stolen from his property on the 7th Line East sometime in the past week. Investigation continuing*
  • Residences of Hasting ON, called police regarding a male walking with a cross bow near Bridge Street. Officers located the male and found that he was bow fishing and following all regulations.
  • Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the Trent Hills area. As a result of the investigation a 33 year old male from Campbellford ON, was arrested and charged with assault. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

 

June 26

  • A Port Hope resident reported to police that two suspicious males came into his yard saying they needed gas but was requesting money. One male st arted removing his jewellery in exchange for money. The property owner did not give them any money and demanded they leave his premises immediately.
  • Police responded to reports of a domestic dispute in the Trent Hills area. The parties were separated and advice was provided.

 

June 27

  • Just after 5am police responded to reports of a traffic complaint involving a dark colored SUV weaving all over the road travelling east bound on Highway 401. An officer stopped the motor vehicle near the Grafton exit. As a result of the investigation 40 year old Chad Yan Pitre from Vaughn, ON was arrested and charged with the following offences:

&nbs p;          Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol)

Driving with more than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood

He was released, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 1, 2018.

  •     A domestic dispute was reported to police in the Brighton area. Officers conducted an investigation and it was determined no criminal activity had taken place. The involved parties were already separated but both were spoken to and advice was provided.

June 28

  • A male reported to police that his wallet was missing and believed it to have been stolen from a shopping cart while at a local area business. There was a sum of cash within the wallet along with all the cards and documents a wallet contains.
  • Just before 3p.m. officers received a report of a dog that was inside a vehicle for a lengthy period of time in a parking lot at a local area business. The owner was located and educated on the dangers of leaving pets in a hot vehicle. The Northumberland OPP would like to remind residents and visitors to the area not to leave their pets unattended in parked cars. Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the widows slightly open. A hot environ ment can cause serious medical distress or even death to you pet.

 

Northumberland OPP officers investigated 18 accidental 911 calls, 17 motor vehicle collisions, 32 traffic related complaints and conducted 5 RIDE programs during this time period.

 

*Northumberland OPP is asking for the public’s assistance with these ongoing investigations and would ask that anyone with information on these crimes call their nearest OPP detachment.
