Now that body-worn cameras have been rolled out by the Cobourg Police Service as part of their Officer Safety Plan, Councillor Aaron Burchat told fellow council members at Monday’s meeting that they will continue to consult with the community as the implementation proceeds just to make sure it’s going well.

“And at the July 19 Cobourg Police Services Board meeting, they will be looking at starting the process of future-needs assessment for the Cobourg Police Service in regards to the police station,” Burchat added.

Renovations at the Cobourg firehall are going well, he continued, providing year-to-date statistics for the Cobourg Fire Service. Along with 184 training activities and 150 fire-prevention activities, there have been 549 incidents. These include 20 fires and 291 medical calls.

And looking at bylaw enforcement, as of June 15, Burchat identified 15 animal-control complaints, 23 by-law infractions, 15 parking complaints, four noise complaints, 22 property-standards incidents and 45 grass and weed complaints.

“This does not include 352 parking tickets issued and preliminary warnings,” he said.
