St. Mary Thunder to Play for OFSAA Boys Rugby Bronze Medal Saturday

Following a loss in the semifinals Friday afternoon, the host St. Mary Thunder will play for the bronze medal at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) boys A/AA rugby championship Saturday in Cobourg.

Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School against Cairine Wilson Secondary School from Ottawa, which lost the other semifinal match-up to Peterborough’s Adam Scott Collegiate 14-7.

St. Mary dropped a 17-7 decision to Crescent School from Toronto in the semifinals.

Port Hope’s Trinity College School blanked Whitby’s Henry Street High School 19-0 in a consolation semifinal game.

In other games Saturday at St. Mary, TCS will face Holy Cross in the consolation final at 9:30 a.m., and following the bronze medal match between the Thunder and Cairine Wilson, Adam Scott and Crescent will battle for the OFSAA gold medal.
