In Editor Choice, Local

Today’s Northumberland reached out to Chair of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Chairperson, Diane Lloyd for comment regarding the issue of CCI not having a prom parade.

Since Cobourg Collegiate Institute announced there wouldn’t be a prom parade this year for graduating students, parents and have students have voiced their displeasure.

CCI Principal James Patenall hasn’t returned e-mails from Today’s Northumberland.

But on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Chair Person Diane Lloyd stated in a brief e-mail to Today’s Northumberland, “it is my understanding that those involved have resolved this issue.”

Lloyd said, “there will be an announcement soon.”

Lloyd didn’t comment further, but Today’s Northumberland has learned through several sources involved that a prom parade will take place taking the usual route from D’Arcy Street, north to King Street, where the parade will turn east and travel along King Street East to CCI.

After the parade the graduates will be bussed to the Cobourg Community Centre for their prom.

Cobourg Police, members of the faculty have been working long hours to try and resolve the issue.
