WHAT: THE MARKET IN LENT LANE. Part makers’ market, part farmers’ market with 20+ vendors selling food, art, craft and all things local, handmade, small-batch wonderful and delicious.
WHEN: Every Thursday, from 4 pm to 9 pm; starting on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 and running until Thursday, October 13th, 2022.
WHERE: In the heart of Port Hope’s beautiful heritage downtown, winding through Lent Lane from the Walton Street entrance toward Memorial Park.
“I’m really excited about this collaboration between Port Hope Makers’ Market,” says organizer, Signe Langford. “And the Port Hope Heritage Business Improvement Area (HBIA). The calibre and variety of vendors is going to be fantastic. It’s just what our town needs to help bring back more vibrancy after the last two years of Covid lockdowns.”
“We also want to give tourists yet another reason to visit us and come a little earlier,” says Langford. “Book a room and start that long weekend on Thursday!”
“Port Hope is a beautiful small town offering historic architecture, plenty of nature, great shopping, and a happening arts scene,” says Langford. “Port Hope arts organization Critical Mass can be found along the Lent Lane Market route, and they’re usually up to something creative and interactive. And through July and August, there will be free concerts at the bandshell in Memorial Park at the end of the lane.”
The market will also act as a platform for community outreach by charities, foundations, and good-cause and educational initiatives. Also, expect special events throughout the season; organizers have plans underway and will keep the public posted on www.porthopehbia.com.
“I am delighted to welcome all of the one-of-a-kind vendors who will be joining our already unique collection of downtown businesses,” says Jamie Byers, Manager of the Port Hope Heritage Business Improvement Area (www.porthopehbia.com ). “By welcoming vendors from everywhere in Northumberland County and beyond, The Market in Lent Lane will complement the great food and shopping that already exists in Downtown Port Hope.”
