Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Faces Ten Charges Including Theft (No Name Released)

A Cobourg man has been charged with theft after police called to shoplifting in progress at a Cobourg business.

On Monday, April 11, 2022, at 4:20 p.m., police were called to a business in the northwest end of Cobourg in response to shoplifting in progress. Staff informed police that a man had left the store with unpaid items.

As a result of the police investigation, a 37-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following:

1. Theft Under $5,000, contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

3. Fail to comply with release order- other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a)

4. Enter Premises When Entry Prohibited, contrary to Section 2(1)(a)(i) of the Trespass to Property Act

5. Engage in prohibited activity on premises, contrary to section 2(1)(a)(ii) of the Trespass to Property Act

6. Three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation, contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada

7. Two counts of Failure to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a)

The man was remanded into custody with a future court date of April 19, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
