Panthers Take Series Lead Against Rebels with OT Win

For the third straight Provincial Junior Hockey League playoff game, overtime was needed to settle the outcome between the Port Hope Panthers and Campbellford Rebels.
Michael Patrick scored 9:33 into the extra frame Friday night to give the Panthers a 3-2 victory at the Campbellford-Seymour Community Centre in the battle between the two Northumberland junior C hockey clubs.
Port Hope returns home Saturday evening for Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead in the  best-of-seven showdown. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
Friday night, the Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead less than six minutes into the contest on goals by Logan Kelly at 1:13 and Riley McBride on a power play at 5:57.
Adam Klass answered back for the Rebels with a power-play goal at 17:12 of the first period and teammate Benny Scarr evened the score late in the second with only 31 seconds remaining.
Goaltender Sam Dingle made 36 saves to record the win for Port Hope.
