The Cobourg Cougars continued to roll with a 6-3 victory over the visiting Toronto Patriots in Ontario Junior Hockey League action Monday night at the Cobourg Community Centre.
After losing their first two games in early February following a lengthy league shutdown due to provincial government restrictions, the Cougars have picked up points in nine straight contests and 11 of their last 12.
Cobourg has nine wins, a regulation loss and two overtime defeats during that stretch. Monday’s win moved the Cougars into a tie for third place at 51 points with the Haliburton County Huskies in the OJHL’s East Division, though the Huskies have two games in hand.
George Krotiris and Jacob Gilbert both scored twice in the win over the Patriots while Charlie Da Fonseca and Michael Palandra added single tallies.
Krotiris led the way with a four-point night, also chipping in a couple of assists for a team-leading 22 goals, 27 assists and 49 points in 42 games this season.
Kallaway Mercer, Adam Barone and Justin Jamer also drew a pair of helpers for the Cougars.
Cobourg (23-16-1-4) is back in action in Toronto on Thursday against the St. Michael’s Buzzers (28-15-1-2) and Sunday against the Jr. Canadiens (33-11-1-0).
The Cougars return home to face the Wellington Dukes (26-12-0-5) on Monday evening. Game time is 7 p.m. at the CCC.
