Port Hope Goes to New Emergency-Notification System

The Municipality of Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services reminds residents to register with the Rave Mobile Emergency Alert system.

This free service allows individuals to receive notifications from municipal authorities to stay informed of potentially hazardous situations involving weather, traffic and other emergencies.

Rave Mobile strengthens the municipality’s ability to communicate with residents when it matters most,” said Fire Chief Daniel Smith, Director of Fire and Emergency Services.

This service allows for critical communication with the public and provides individuals with the information needed to stay safe or take precautions during hazardous or emergency situations.”

The new Rave Mobile service replaces the previous Rapid Notify emergency-alert system. It allows residents and travellers to Port Hope to receive phone, text and e-mail alerts, as well as to answer poll questions that will give municipal officials critical information during emergency situations.

Individuals who are signed up for alerts will receive reliable information, including tailored updates based on their specific needs and geographic location,” the announcement said.

Rave Mobile is trusted by thousands of institutions, including emergency authorities, businesses and educational institutions Rave Mobile sends millions of messages daily and during critical situations such as severe weather.”

Residents who previously registered for Rapid Notify must sign up again for Rave Mobile – the subscription is not transferrable.
