Cobourg Councillor Emily Chorley urges everyone to remain active this winter – and described some options that are open at this week’s council meeting.

The Cobourg Community Centre is currently closed to recreational use she said, though it still houses the mass-immunization that offers COVID-19 shots seven days a week.

“Despite the closure, there are still options to stay healthy and active, such as on-line fitness classes for seniors Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m.,” Chorley said.

She also mentioned an outdoors walking group that begins this week, offering guided walks Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m., starting at the CCC. Groups are limited to nine participants, she said, and the walks are quite different – 2 km. on Tuesdays and a more challenging 5 km. on Thursdays.

To join, or for more information, check out the CCC Facebook page.

And there is always the outdoor skating rink at the Rotary Waterfront Park, open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Please remember to physically distance and wear a mask,” Chorley said, adding her caution that spectators should remember the current 10-person limit for outdoor gatherings.
