Fire Engulfs Home Under Renovations in the Municipality of Port Hope

A house under renovations was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning in the Municipality of Port Hope.

At approximately 12:20 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 all three stations from Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to a structure fire on Dale Road at Sylvanglen Road.

A person driving by spotted the flames and called 9-1-1.

As firefighters were responding they could see the flames and knew they had a working structure fire. Upon arrival the entire structure was enveloped in flames.

The fire was to well involved for an interior attack, so firefighters could only douse the flames from the outside of the residence.

Dale Road was closed in the area of the fire while tanker trucks shuttled water to the scene.

It’s believed the house was under renovations and there was no one home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but considered not suspicious.
