Port Hope Police – Mother and Son Face Theft Charge

On November 9th, 2021 a mother and her son were shopping at a local grocery store, in Port Hope, Ontario .  The two were standing behind a male party who had accidently left his wallet on the cash register and left the store without it. The mother and son walked up to the cash register and took the wallet. The two made no attempt to locate the victim/owner of the wallet.   The couple were captured on video quickly leaving the store once they had the wallet in their possession. The wallet contained $800.00 cash.

Port Hope Police officers identified the parties as Stephanie Mineault, of Cobourg, Ontario and her son, Steven Mineault of Port Hope, Ontario. Both Stephanie and Steven Mineault were charged with theft under on November 15th, 2021.  The two were released on an appearance notice  and will appear in court in early December, 2021 to answer tot the charge.
