Philip Lawrence and his family walked into Arthur’s Pub shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Best Western Inn and Convention Centre and declared victory.
Lawrence was re-elected for his second term as MP for the Northumberland/Peterborough South riding.
“I am incredibly humbled and honoured,” said Lawrence with his family standing beside him in a room full of supporters.
“I commit to you to listening to all voices and responding to everyone and being the best possible representative I can.”
Lawrence stated his boss isn’t a party leader, “it’s each and every one of you.”
During his victory speech, Lawrence congratulated Conservative candidate Michelle Ferreri who beat out Liberal Maryam Monsef in the Peterborough – Kawartha riding.
“Our neighbourhood is solidly blue. And I’m proud that the collective residents, nearly half-a-million people have endorsed the Conservative Party in myself, Michelle, Ryan and Shelby and we’re going to do a great job for this area.”
Lawrence said going forward, with exciting days ahead, “when I look at my son and I look at all the children around. I am inspired and it’s our job to make sure they all have the opportunity. Whether that be climate change or debt that’s out of control or corruption we have to fight it every inch of the way – and we will. For my son and for your children.”
Lawrence thanks his team of volunteers when on his worst days when he was “grumpy” they always had a smile and a cappuccino.
“I appreciate and love them so much.”
Lawrence thanks his family members including his wife Natasha, his daughter Margaret and son James.
“Thank you Northumberland/Peterborough South. Thank you our community. I am humbled, I am privileged and I will work even hard than the last year-and-a-half to make sure we have the prosperity that we so richly deserve.”
Speaking to Today’s Northumberland about the election that cost Canadian taxpayers approximately $610 million Lawrence called it a “disaster” for the Trudeau government.
“If I spent $600 million on pretty much anything and we didn’t get anything accomplished I would call that a disaster.”
“This is a exercise in narcissism. It was a failed attempt to get a majority government.”

Conservative Philip Lawrence 22,613 44.6%
Liberal Alison Lester 16,186 31.9%
NDP New Democrat Party Kim McArthur-Jackson 7,662 15.1%
People’s Party – PPC Nathan Lang 2,882 5.7%
Green Party Christina Wilson 1,342 2.6%
