Investigators With the OFM Contacted After Suspicious Fire in Port Hope

In Editor Choice, Local, Police Blotter

Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were called to a possible structure fire on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 10:20 p.m. to the south west corner of Hope Street South and William Street for a possible structure fire.

When crews arrived smoke was coming from the main floor of the two-storey building that once housed a business.

When crews entered the front door wearing breathing apparatus, the door wasn’t locked.

Fire crews knocked down the flames quickly, but said the fire is suspicious in nature and Port Hope Police are securing the building waiting for members of the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office to arrive in the morning.
