In Local, Photo Gallery, Police Blotter

A barn was destroyed by flames late Tuesday night north of Colborne in Cramahe Township.

Cramahe Township Fire Department received the call for a barn fire at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

The barn was located approximately 850 metres west of County Road 25 on Telephone Road north of Colborne.

Responding crews could see the orange glow in the sky confirming a working structure fire.

When crews arrived, the barn was engulfed in flames and assistance was immediately called from neighbouring municipalities of Brighton and Alnwick/Haldimand Township for manpower and tanker support.

Firefighters also had to contend with hydro lines directly beside the barn.

Firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to a nearby utility vehicle and another barn.

The heat from the fire along with the extreme humidity also was a concern for fire crews.

At this time there is no damage estimate or cause of the fire.
