Cobourg Police – Two Individuals Arrested After Police Respond to Unwanted Person Call

On Friday, July 9, 2021, uniform members of the Cobourg Police Service responded to a residence in the west
end of Cobourg regarding an unwanted person. Officers located a man on the property and a woman in the
immediate area.


As a result of the police investigation, 26-year-old Michael BERRYMAN of no fixed address was arrested and
charged with:

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substances
Act

Fail to Comply with a Judicial Release Order contrary to section 145 (5)(a) Criminal Code of Canada x3

Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177 Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of Break-In Instrument contrary to section 351 (1) Criminal Code of Canada
BERRYMAN was held in custody pending a bail hearing.


In addition, 25-year old Kayla Gibson of Cobourg was arrested and charged with:

Enter on Land on which a Line Work is situated – contrary to section 26.1 Railway Safety Act

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl – contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drug and
Substances Act

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine – contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drug
and Substances Act

Possession of Schedule I Substance – Hydromorphone – contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drug and
Substances Act
Gibson was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
