The Town of Cobourg is pleased to announce that the first cohort of participants have been selected for the inaugural Women In Governance: Leadership and Mentoring Program.

This initiative was developed as part of the town’s commitment to improving equity, diversion and inclusion.

The 12-week program is designed for women and gender-non-conforming individuals to learn more about what it’s like to work in the public sector. Each participant will be matched with a mentor who identifies as a female or gender-non-conforming and is an elected official.

“We are very much looking forward to hosting a program that will showcase the many different aspects of working on both the administrative and elected side of government,” said Jamie Kramer, Accessibility Coordinator for the Town of Cobourg.

“This program will also host a fantastic speaker series with individuals who will provide their own unique perspectives to participants.”

The first three of these sessions has been announced to showcase, in the coming weeks, the unique perspectives and experiences of those working in government – as elected officials and as members of non-governmental organizations that work together with politicians to create public policies.

The series kicks off this week.
