Houston Earns Baseball Scholarship from Cleary University

Port Hope’s Peter Houston has committed to play baseball for the Cleary University Cougars in Michigan.

Baseball Oshawa made the announcement last Thursday, sharing the accomplishment of Houston who is a pitcher and outfielder for the Oshawa Legionaires 18U Elite team.

Houston, a student at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Cobourg, has previously played for the former Port Hope River Rats organization, the Northumberland Jacks and Arizona-based Nomadic Baseball as he worked toward achieving this scholarship to play baseball and continue his education at Cleary University, based in Howell, Michigan. The university’s Cougars sports teams play in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

“I would like to thank all of my coaches from the Oshawa Legionaires as well as my former coaches that I have had throughout the years,” Houston stated in the announcement. “I would also like to thank my friends, teammates and family members for being there to help me get through the tough times, and finally, my Mom for her support and dedication of time towards making this happen. I am truly thankful.”
