Cobourg Police – Two Women Charged with Possession of Controlled Substance

Two women have been charged with possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop.


On April 18, 2021, at 10:20 pm, police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Westwood Drive. The
smell of alcohol was emanating from the car. Police located open alcohol and a small quantity of a controlled
substance in the vehicle.


As a result of the police investigation, 25-year-old Amber Waterworth of Millbrook is charged with the
following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act

Having care and control of a Motor Vehicle with open container of liquor readily available contrary
to Section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act


Ashley Goncalves, a 36-year-old woman of Millbrook, is charged with the following offence:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act

Having liquor in other than licensed premises, residence, or place contrary to Section 31(2) of the
Liquor Licence Act.


Waterworth and Goncalves were released on an Appearance Notice with future court dates.
