Durham Region – Suspect Jumps out of Building to Avoid Police in Oshawa

A suspect who was operating a stolen vehicle was arrested after jumping out of a second storey window to avoid police in Oshawa.

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of Central East Division were patrolling in Oshawa near Elm Street and Celina Street when they observed the suspect operating a stolen vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle to a parking lot on Simcoe Street South, and attempted to arrest the suspect, who resisted arrest by punching and kicking the officers, even biting one of them. Officers deployed a conductive energy weapon, which was ineffective and the suspect fled into a nearby residential building. The officers pursued the suspect into an apartment and the suspect jumped out of the second storey window. Other responding officers were on the ground floor and the suspect was taken into custody. He was not injured

Jake PEDERSEN, age 30, of Pentland Street in Oshawa is charged with: Possession of Stolen Property over $5000; Breach of Recognizance; Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest; Drive While Under Suspension; Breach of Probation and Possession of a Schedule I Substance x2 (cocaine/fentanyl).
