The vehicle was found to be running with an individual who appeared to be asleep sitting behind the steering wheel.
Officers arrived at the location and upon their interaction with the driver, it became apparent the individual was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired operation then transported to the OPP Detachment in Campbellford for further testing.
As a result of the investigation Keith HOLLETT (age 28) of Napanee, Ontario, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Operation while prohibited
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on a date in May 2021.
The driver received a 90 day automatic driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.
Police continue to rely on members of the public to report suspected impaired drivers. Many of these drivers are caught because of concerned citizens being conscious of irregular or erratic driving behaviours that continue to put other motorists at risk.
