Quinte West OPP – Youth Arrested at Local School

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a youth following a threats occurrence at a local school.


On March 15, 2021, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP was dispatched to a report of a youth who allegedly threatened another student with an edged weapon. It was reported that the youth ran away when confronted by staff, and as a result the school was placed into “lockdown” for the safety of students and staff. The staff subsequently located the youth and secured them in an office until police arrived on scene.

A 12 year old male from Quinte West was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose – three counts;

Assault with a weapon; and

Uttering threats – to cause bodily harm or death

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in April, 2021. The name of the youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
