Cobourg Flags at Half-Mast for National Day of Observance for COVID-19

In Local

On March 11, 2021, to commemorate the National Day of Observance for COVID-19, flags at the Cobourg Community Centre, Building 7, Fire Hall, Venture13, Rotary Harbourfront Park, Victoria Park, Chris Garrett Park and Jubilee Park will be lowered to half-mast.
On Monday, the Prime Minister released a statement designating March 11, 2021, as a ‘National Day of
Observance to commemorate the people who lost their lives and the significant impacts we have all felt
because of COVID-19’.

The impacts of COVID-19 have been felt across Canada and here within the Town of Cobourg.
Throughout the impacts of the virus our community has shown strength, compassion and resiliency.
Our community will continue to support and salute the efforts of our essential workers who keep us all
safe every day.

“Today, the Town of Cobourg will join other municipalities across the region in lowering its flags from
sunrise to sunset in recognition of the National Day of Observance of COVID-19,” said Mayor John
Henderson for the Town of Cobourg. “Although we are still in the midst of this pandemic, we must
remember all of those who have suffered, and, all of those who have lost their lives to this virus. I would
also like to reflect on the strength of our community during this time. Let us all continue to exemplify
that strength and compassion as we move forward together.”

The Town of Cobourg asks the community to please take the time today, on March 11th to acknowledge
and think about those who have suffered, those who have lost loved ones and those who continue to
aid our community throughout this pandemic.
