Quinte West OPP – Investigate Motor Vehicle Theft

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has recovered the stolen vehicle with the assistance of the public.

On Sunday March 7, 2021, at approximately 1:12 a.m. , Quinte West OPP attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Sidney Street, just south of Hamilton Road for a routine traffic violation. The vehicle failed to stop for police and proceeded northbound on Glen Miller Road. The officer disengaged for public safety reasons. 

Police attended the registered owner’s address and learned that the vehicle had been stolen sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. 

On March 9, 2021, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a passerby observed the vehicle abandoned on Gazley Road, north of Preston Hill Road in Quinte West. They recognized the vehicle from a media release and contacted police. The vehicle will be examined by the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) for evidence and returned to the owner.

The investigation is continuing. Any person with information regarding this incident or the person(s) responsible should contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to re main anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
