Cramahe Township Finds Unique Way to Show Support for Vaccines

In Community, Local

Cramahe Township is ready for the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines and has come up with a way to let community members show their support.

The municipality has come up with the slogan “I Was Shot in Cramahe” as a meme to convey to members of the public support for vaccinations.

Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin said the idea came up after brainstorming with staff how to show support for the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out.

The logo was designed by Alderville First Nation graphic artist Darren Catherwood. The “O” in SH”O”T is a COVID virus symbol.  The logo is being reproduced as stickers to be given to those vaccinated in Cramahe Township.

“We are very pro-vaccination,” said Martin. “If we get a clinic and people are vaccinated here, they will be given a sticker of the logo.”

The township had a few sport shirts with the COVID-19 logos sewn on an arm made up.

They have been sent to dignitaries involved in the vaccine rollout: (ret) General Rick Hillier who is overseeing Ontario’s Vaccination Task-Force, Premier Doug Ford, MP Philip Lawrence, MPP David Piccini, CAO of Northumberland Hills Hospital and Ontario Health Team-Northumberland partner Linda Davis, Northumberland County Warden Bob Crate and Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill.

Martin conveyed the message, “Cramahe is a small municipality but we’re here, we’re behind you and support any kind of vaccination program. We want you to consider us.”

Cramahe Township would be more than willing to accommodate a vaccination clinic for the eastern end of Northumberland County.

“We support whatever is going to get vaccines into arms.  Whether it’s in our community or not.” Martin said the idea was to show Cramahe’s support for the vaccine rollout with a play on words, and some fun.
